Laboratory Assessment of Selected Protective Coatings Applied on Two Sandstone Types

The efficiency of three commercial hydrophobic coatings applied on two types sandstones was subjected to the tests water absorption by capillarity, complete immersion, and frost resistance. Two days curing time samples were chosen for laboratory tests. effects used different (ambiguous). proved their effectiveness thus, relevance use, but effective each type sandstone. coating F showed best Hořice sandstone A Malé Skalky third testing H ineffective both capillarity a loss over time. By completely immersing in water, all lost disappeared. Applied protective helped preserve resistance when looking at uniaxial compressive strength after 25 freeze–thaw cycles, regardless fading effect. In addition, penetration depth test performed. impregnation reflects confirmed results obtained capillarity. findings presented article are also useful practice, as will be mined frequently future well.
